Barclays announces new APAC exec

Barclays has introduced Denise Wong as the new Head of Sustainable and Impact Banking for the Asia Pacific region. Situated in Hong Kong, Ms. Wong will play a key role in offering advice to corporate and institutional clients on how to seize opportunities aligned with their sustainability goals, particularly during their transition to a low-carbon economy. In her new capacity, she will report to Vanessa Koo, who holds the position of Head of Investment Banking for Asia Pacific.

Denise Wong comes with an impressive career spanning over 20 years, with a substantial part of it spent at Barclays in both Hong Kong and New York. Her recent professional experience includes roles as a Venture Capital investor at VU Venture Partners and as the Chief Financial Officer at Green Monday, a prominent alternative protein company in Asia. Before her recent roles, Ms. Wong spent 12 years at Barclays, where she served as the Head of Consumer & Retail for Asia Pacific, excluding Japan, within the Investment Banking division.

Vanessa Koo, the Head of Investment Banking for Asia Pacific, underscored the growing demand from clients in the region for support in reaching their sustainability objectives. The appointment of Denise Wong underscores Barclays’ dedication to providing clients with top-tier expertise to navigate the changing landscape of sustainability.

Ms. Wong will also have functional reporting responsibilities to Brian Reilly and Marie Freier, who serve as the Global Co-Heads of Sustainable and Impact Banking, further enhancing the bank’s global efforts in this crucial domain.
