The GCC Board Directors Institute (GCC BDI), a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting board directors, has entered into a three-year partnership agreement with Nesma and Partners Contracting Company Ltd. (N&P), a prominent contracting company in the Middle East. This collaboration aims to strengthen corporate governance practices and further GCC BDI’s commitment to enhancing board effectiveness in the region.

As part of this partnership, GCC BDI and N&P will engage in close cooperation, sharing their knowledge and experiences. They will also explore collaborative opportunities to elevate corporate governance standards in Saudi Arabia and beyond.

Jane Valls, the executive director of GCC BDI, expressed her enthusiasm for this partnership, welcoming N&P as a valued corporate affiliate. She highlighted GCC BDI’s mission to enhance board capabilities and promote the latest governance trends and best practices in corporate leadership. Valls anticipates that this collaboration will be productive and impactful.

Abdulaziz Alturki, the chairman of N&P, emphasised their commitment to responsible leadership and corporate governance. N&P, a significant player in Saudi Arabia’s construction sector, views corporate governance as fundamental to its leadership philosophy. They believe that transparent corporate governance is essential for maintaining a strong reputation and creating long-term value.

N&P, headquartered in Alkhobar, has established a robust corporate governance and corporate social responsibility (CSR) framework. Their partnership with Tarmeem Charity Association has led to the renovation of 80 homes for underprivileged families over the past four years, with plans to renovate an additional 60 homes in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. This partnership also extends to volunteering and digital sponsorship to maximise its societal impact. Together, they launched the Saudi Contracting Pioneers initiative to support small contracting companies.

N&P’s commitments in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters encompass capacity building, advocacy, and knowledge transfer. They advocate for sound governance practices in alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

Notably, GCC BDI and N&P have been collaborating since 2015, with N&P recently supporting GCC BDI in organising two board secretary forums. This partnership reflects their shared commitment to advancing corporate governance and board effectiveness.
