Investcorp, the globally renowned alternative investment firm, has made a strategic announcement that underscores its unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability. The firm has revealed its role as a Summit Associate Partner for the forthcoming Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), a pivotal global event that will converge with COP28 on December 4th.

Held under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, ADSW stands as a significant global platform. Its core mission revolves around uniting luminaries in government, policymakers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and the youth to engage in profound deliberations on combating climate change. ADSW assumes a critical role in sustaining the global momentum surrounding climate action, ensuring that COP28 transforms ambitious pledges into tangible solutions that lead to a net-zero future. This year’s ADSW will feature an array of partner-led events and opportunities for international discourse on sustainability topics, involving esteemed organisations such as the International Renewable Energy Agency, the Atlantic Council, Tamkeen, among others.

Investcorp, leveraging its four-decade-long legacy of identifying, investing in, and scaling transformative enterprises, has keenly acknowledged the pivotal role that private capital and expertise must play in catalysing meaningful climate action. Earlier this month, the firm unveiled its sponsorship of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), scheduled to take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from November 30 to December 12, 2023.

Mohammed Alardhi, the Executive Chairman of Investcorp, articulated the firm’s commitment, stating, “We are delighted to support ADSW and partake in the exchange of ideas aimed at accelerating the adoption of technologies, strategies, and policies crucial in the battle against climate change. ADSW has solidified its status as a global platform for actionable sustainability initiatives. We firmly believe that through collaborative partnerships and concerted action, events like ADSW and COP28 provide the necessary platform for crucial dialogues that will pave the way for a more sustainable and prosperous world for generations to come.”

Earlier this year, in January 2023, the opening ceremony of ADSW garnered significant global attention, graced by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed and attended by 13 heads of state and prime ministers. Over the course of six remarkable days, the event attracted a staggering 36,000 participants hailing from 170 countries and featured a distinguished panel of over 600 speakers. This momentous event underscored the growing importance of sustainability on the global stage.

Investcorp’s partnership with ADSW reinforces the collective commitment to addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our time – climate change – while fostering innovation and collaboration at the highest echelons of the global community.
