MSCI Appoints Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand

MSCI Inc., a global provider of decision-support tools and services for the investment community, has announced the appointment of Shane Edwards as the new Managing Director and Head of Client Coverage for its Australia and New Zealand business.

Bringing over two decades of experience in leading large global sales and structuring teams within the investment industry, Edwards assumes his role with immediate effect. Based in Sydney, he will spearhead MSCI’s commercial activities in the Australia and New Zealand markets, overseeing client relationships and formulating strategies to cater to clients across the APAC region. Edwards will report to Kazuya Nagasawa, Head of APAC Client Coverage at MSCI.

Before joining MSCI, Edwards held various senior positions at UBS, including Managing Director and Global Head of Equity Derivatives. In this role, he was instrumental in driving sales of complex products across asset classes to a diverse client base. Previously, he served as the Global Head of Structured Sales, Custom Index, and Hybrid Trading at the Royal Bank of Scotland, where he devised innovative solutions for clients worldwide. Edwards holds a first-class honours degree in finance from Macquarie University.

Nagasawa expressed confidence in Edwards’ appointment, highlighting his extensive experience across diverse client segments and products. He emphasised Edwards’ deep understanding of financial markets, asserting that his leadership would play a pivotal role in advancing MSCI’s mission of delivering tailored services and solutions to meet the evolving needs of clients in the region.
