Carlsberg has announced the appointment of two new executives to bolster its leadership team. Esther Wu has been named Chief Information Officer (CIO), and Yves Briantais has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). These appointments are integral to advancing Carlsberg’s digital and marketing strategies under its Accelerate Sail initiative.
Esther Wu took on her new role as CIO on June 3, 2024. She is set to lead Carlsberg’s digital transformation efforts, a vital component of the Accelerate Sail strategy. Wu brings over 20 years of experience in technology and digital transformation, having previously served as Vice President of IIT Asia and a member of the global IIT leadership team at Carlsberg since 2019. Her career also includes a notable position as head of strategic planning and IT transformation at Chanel.
Yves Briantais will join Carlsberg as CMO on August 19, 2024. He arrives from Colgate-Palmolive, where he held the position of global executive vice president of design and creative capabilities. With 25 years of experience in marketing, Briantais has held various senior leadership roles, including Vice President of Global Design and Packaging, Vice President of Marketing for Europe, and Executive Vice President of Marketing in the Asia-Pacific region.
Jacob Aarup-Andersen, Carlsberg’s Group CEO, commented on these strategic appointments: “With their extensive experience and global expertise, Esther and Yves are well-equipped to drive the successful execution of our Accelerate Sail strategy.”
Earlier this year, Carlsberg reported first-quarter sales that surpassed expectations, driven by increased sales of premium beer brands and strategic price increases across key markets. The addition of Wu and Briantais is expected to further enhance Carlsberg’s strategic initiatives and overall market performance.
