MI:RNA Diagnostics, a Scottish veterinary diagnostics firm, has appointed Claudia Cavalluzzo as its new Chief Operating Officer. Cavalluzzo, a seasoned scientist with expertise in medicinal chemistry, brings extensive experience from her previous roles, including a tenure at DestiNA Genomics and leadership positions at Converge, Scotland’s national platform for university entrepreneurs.
Founder and CEO Eve Hanks praised Cavalluzzo’s forward-thinking approach, emphasising her alignment with MI:RNA’s ethos. The company recently completed a $4 million Series A funding round, which will support its geographic expansion plans.
Cavalluzzo, who joined MI:RNA’s board in May 2023, expressed enthusiasm for applying her research experience to a growing business. MI:RNA specializes in early disease detection in the pet, agriculture, and equine markets, utilizing microRNA biomarkers for advanced blood sample analysis.
