VIA Metropolitan Transit Welcomes Chief Administration Officer

VIA Metropolitan Transit has announced the appointment of John G. Clamp as its Chief Administration Officer (CAO), a newly created position aimed at bolstering the transit agency’s operational and administrative capacities.

A San Antonio native and a distinguished alumnus of the University of Texas at San Antonio and Texas A&M University, Clamp brings an impressive 36-year track record spanning non-profit organisations, public service, and corporate sectors.

In his role as CAO, Clamp will be responsible for overseeing VIA’s Fiscal, Procurement, Technology/Innovation, and Human Resources divisions. His mandate includes managing both short-term and long-term operational impacts across these key areas, while also overseeing VIA’s resources and capital assets.

Before joining VIA, Clamp held several significant roles, including senior vice president of finance and administration at The DoSeum, chief financial officer for the Alamo Area Council of Governments, and executive director of the San Antonio Hotel and Lodging Association. His leadership journey also includes a stint as District 10 City Council member and president and chief operating officer of Landmark Companies. Moreover, he has contributed to USAA in various leadership capacities.

VIA President/CEO Jeffrey C. Arndt expressed confidence in Clamp’s appointment, emphasising his strategic leadership qualities and rich experience. “Mr. Clamp’s extensive experience in financial management, government relations operations, and public service will be foundational to his success as he builds out this new position,” said Arndt.

Active in professional organizations, Clamp is affiliated with the Texas and local Society of Certified Public Accountants and the national, state, and local Associations of Realtors. He also served as chairman of the Alamo Regional Mobility Authority from 2013 to 2016, accelerating transportation projects in Bexar County.
