VITAS Healthcare Announces C-Suite and EVP Promotions

VITAS Healthcare, a leading hospice provider, has announced significant changes to its executive leadership team, including promotions and new appointments.

Joel Wherley, previously serving as Chief Operating Officer (COO), will now also hold the position of President at VITAS Healthcare. In his expanded role, Wherley will oversee day-to-day field operations, clinical services, business development, and physicians’ leadership.

Bryan Wysong, who has been with the company since 2014 and held various leadership positions, including Senior Vice President of Operational Performance, will step into the role of Executive Vice President of Operations. In addition to his current responsibilities, Wysong will oversee the VITAS home medical equipment division, palliative care entities, and the hospice provider’s admissions team.

Furthermore, CEO Nick Westfall has been appointed as the Chairman of VITAS Healthcare. Westfall, who joined the company in 2012 and has held progressively senior roles since then, expressed his commitment to the organisation’s strategic vision and mission-focused efforts to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to patients and their families across the country.

VITAS Healthcare, headquartered in Miami and a subsidiary of Chemed Corp (NYSE: CHE), is recognised as the nation’s largest hospice provider by market share. With operations spanning 50 locations in 14 states, VITAS employs over 10,000 individuals who care for approximately 19,000 patients daily.
