Nikola, the electric-truck manufacturer, has announced the appointment of Thomas Okray, a former General Motors and Amazon executive, as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Okray’s hiring follows the recent appointments of former GM executives Stephen Girsky as CEO in August and Mary Chan as Chief Operating Officer in September.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Okray stated, “My connection with some of Nikola’s leadership spanning decades made the decision even more natural.” He will assume his responsibilities immediately.

Okray brings a wealth of experience to Nikola, having spent 14 years at General Motors until June 2015. During his tenure, he progressed from a senior analyst to CFO of a division, overseeing various projects related to future vehicle development, profitability optimisation, and material procurement. Additionally, he served as Vice President of Finance in Amazon’s global customer fulfilment division.

This appointment comes after former CFO Anastasiya Pasterick announced her resignation to pursue other opportunities. In February, Nikola projected deliveries of up to 350 hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric trucks for the year and reported a reduced loss in the fourth quarter.
