Dutch banking giant ING has appointed Daniele Tonella as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective August 5, 2024. Tonella, a former UniCredit executive, joins ING’s management board for banking.
Tonella succeeds Marnix van Stiphout, ING’s Chief Operations Officer and Chief Transformation Officer, who temporarily assumed the CTO role last November after Görkem Köseoğlu left to start his own fintech company, Prometa.AI.
With over 20 years of experience in tech leadership, Tonella has held several key positions, including Chief Information Officer, Digital and Information Officer, and CEO of UniCredit Services at UniCredit from 2017 to 2021. He has also worked for Evalueserve, Swiss Life, and AXA Group.
“Daniele’s experience and track record in digital leadership will greatly benefit ING in executing our strategy to be the best European bank by accelerating growth, increasing impact, and delivering value,” said Steven van Rijswijk, CEO of ING.
