David Singleton, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of fintech giant Stripe, has announced his departure after seven years with the company to start his own venture. Singleton shared the news on LinkedIn, reflecting on his initial plans to launch a startup in 2017 before being drawn to Stripe’s mission.
During his tenure, Singleton played a key role in strengthening Stripe’s engineering team, helping the company process over $1 trillion in transactions annually. He will remain with Stripe until October to ensure a smooth transition.
Rahul Patil, currently Stripe’s deputy CTO and a four-year veteran of the company, will succeed Singleton. Patil brings extensive experience from previous roles at AWS, Microsoft, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, where he oversaw key product and engineering functions.
Singleton has not yet disclosed details about his new venture but expressed excitement about returning to his startup ambitions.
